Trumpet After Dark - Randy Sandke. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Trumpet After Dark, mostly ballads, is the most accessible of three new releases by trumpeter and composer Randy Sandke. At its most romantic, as on Sandkes Nocturne, the music evokes a cinema soundtrack with a Mancini touch. Sandkes melodic trumpet work recalls Bix Beiderbecke, Warren Vache and even Miles Davis. There are also tracks sans strings for example, Chopins Etude in E, which surprisingly the quartet takes into free-jazz territory, and Blues for Sandy, a 12-bar blues with walkin. And the people who help him achieve that include not only his jazz quartet - Sandke on trumpet, Bill Charlap on piano, Greg Cohen on bass, and Dennis Mackrel on drums - but also, the New York City-based string quartet Parthenia. Trumpet After Dark is a classic 1920s jazz music album recording by RANDY SANDKE released in 2005 on CD, LPVinyl andor cassette. About this release. Album 2005 14 Songs. Trumpet After Dark Randy Sandke. More By Randy Sandke. The Re-Discovered Louis and Bix feat. Kenny Davern, Wycliffe Gordon, Dick Hyman & Ken Peplowski. Trumpeter Randy Sandke has been actively recording since 1985, largely in a postwar swing and mainstream style, although Mainstream Meets the New Music, his 2002 venture into free jazz, raised some eyebrows and garnered new fans. Sandke is comfortable working in a jazz with strings setting, and his arrangements here are quite attractive. Sandke's jazz quartet features pianist Bill Charlap, bassist Greg Cohen, and drummer Dennis Mackrel. He has chosen a viol quartet, Parthenia, and it is likely that this is the first instance in which the viola da gamba has been used in a jazz context. At its most romantic, as on Sandkes Nocturne, the music evokes a cinema soundtrack with a Mancini touch - Owen Cordle, Jazz Times Magazine. Data sheet CD. Discs number. Trumpet After Dark by Randy Sandke. I give highest marks to this superb conflation of classical and jazz elements. In 1998, the Concord Concerto label released an album featuring several of Mr. Sandke's orchestral compositions in performances by the Bulgarian National Orchestra. Over eighty of Mr. Sandke's pieces have been recorded. In July of 2003 his Subway Ballet was performed at the 92nd St. Y in New York City. As always with Sandke, the repertoire is carefully chosen, mostly in a ballad zone but also incorporating everything from early jazz to freebop believe it or not, Chopin's Etude in E is made into something pretty funky & far-out. His albums include Trumpet After Dark, a jazz-with-strings album that uses Renaissance viols instead of modern violins. Inside Out and Outside In bring together mainstream jazz musicians such as Ken Peplowski and avant-garde jazz musicians Ray Anderson and Uri Caine. His work appeared in the movies The Cotton Club, Bullets over Broadway, and The Curse of the Jade Scorpion. Sandke, Randy 2001. Harmony for a new millennium : an introduction to metatonal music.
