Released in April 1973, the album was recorded in 1973 in Macon, Georgia, at Capricorn Studios. The album's musical style incorporates elements of psychedelic, jam band, jazz, R&B, gospel and folk. Guitaristsongwriter Toy Caldwell drew heavily from bluegrass and country while writing songs for the band's debut. Only eight tracks make up this sparse hits collection, and even though it includes their two biggest singles with Fire on the Mountain and the beautiful Heard It in a Love Song, it's not enough to truly represent this band's music. The album kicks off with Can't You See, made famous by country superstar Waylon Jennings in 1976, as well as FM radio staples 24 Hours at a Time and Searchin' for a Rainbow
