Something to Write Home About is the first Get Up Kids album to include James Dewees playing keyboards. Something to Write Home About Q&A. The Get Up Kids are a Kansas City-based American emo band. Formed in 1995, the band was a major player in the mid-90's emo scene, otherwise known as the second wave of emo music. As they gained prominence, they began touring with bands such as Green Day and Weezer before becoming headliners themselves, eventually embarking on international tours of Japan and Europe. They founded Heroes & Villains Records, an imprint of the successful indie rock label Vagrant Records. While the imprint was started to release albums by The Get Up Kids, it served as a launching pad read more. It must be tough being The Get Up Kids. Being accused of completely killing the world of emo is we know it. Well, that seems a little harsh, but the Kansas kids have always been compared to the term emo. I don't really understand why, since they music is incredibly poppy. Nevertheless, it was this album that got them that status. As the kings of emo, or at least to the desperate fans that loved this album in the 20th century. Something To Write Home About is quite simply a collection of pop-punk fueled anthems filled to the brim with clever lyrics and catchy melodi. D I think its really gonna happen this time. Bm C Our calls on the company dime. D Reluctance ties up the line. DF With irresponsibility. Interlude: G-D-C. Verse 1: C F Come tomorrow Ill be on my way back home G C F In the morning call from a roadside telephone C F One night doesnt mean the rest of my life. Chorus: G F G Am Em F If I go its not impossible G Am C F G Possible is probably wrong. Am Em So, let go. The Get Up Kids write from assumption, not passion. Each song is about missing, wanting, or needing a girl who is typically a world away. I'd like to get into the impossibilities and improbabilities of two people actually being a world away, but I'll let the obviously empty cliché fight for itself. I'd rather focus on meaningless lyrics masquerading as poetic insight, such as I smuggle myself into new nationalities. Yet, a merchandise catalog falls out of Something to Write Home About upon opening. The band's decision to not sign with a major just makes them seem financially inept in addition to their musical shortcoming. You guys, just sell out Independent music does not need you
