Notes

Omaha! (a parody of Oklahoma!) was written and recorded by Stan Freberg, for the Butter-Nut Foods Co. It was essentially an extended commercial for Butter-Nut Coffee, with aspects recut for radio play.

In the summer of 1958, Stan approached Butter-Nut Coffee with an idea for an extended radio commercial [the story behind it is related in his autobiography, "It Only Hurts When I Laugh"] and got one prominent radio station in Los Angeles to initially carry the ad. It was a success, and Stan rerecorded it for Capitol (Capitol EAP 1-1101), omitting the plugs for the coffee itself. (Thank you, Barry I. Grauman)

Locked grooves between each of the 3 tracks on Side 2, making it ideal for commercial radio play.

America's self-styled ''gray-flanneled kamikaze pilot,'' Stan Freberg wields the stiletto of satire against the smug and self-satisfied in popular culture and advertising. Freberg was the mad prophet of the airwaves, performing on radio, television and records his hilarious sendups of everything from ''Dragnet'' to the overcommercialization of Christmas. Stan Freberg grew up in Los Angeles, California. From an early age he was a big fan of radio and sound. He was blessed with the double abilities of being an amazing mimic and possessing a razor-sharp satirical mind. In the early 1940s he began to do voice work for both the Warner Brothers' cartoons some of his characters included Junyer Bear and one half of the Goofy Gophers and radio he worked on both The Jack Benny Show and Suspense. He became one of the first comedians to produce an album. As non-music radio began dying off in popularity at the end of the 1950s, Freberg found a new niche in the world of advertising.
