On the strength of Led Zeppelins debut LP on Atlantic, we dragged ourselves off a sickbed to venture down to the East Village rock showcase to see what they were like in person. It would make an interesting story indeed to be able to say that after hearing them perform, we were dancing in the aisles and subsequently ran all the way home. In other words, through the Zeppelin album is very, very good, the group in person is even better and the excitement they generate hasnt been felt in the Fillmore since the last appearance of Big Brother & the Holding Company. I own this on translucent red vinyl. A very nice addition to any Zeppelin fan's collection.

This is a fantastic bootleg, one of the best quality zeppelin boots ever circulated! Though it doesn't capture the entire concert (the half-hour performances of dazed and confused and the whole lotta love medley were omitted), this double LP album displays a super clear document of led zeppelin when they were just entering their "Song Remains The Same" period in which they were performing a lot of material that had yet to be released on "Houses of the Holy" later that year, as well as a ton of classic material. Having been professionally recorded and mixed, as well as being performed at a much smaller-than-normal concert venue, the sound comes through in an almost studio-like quality, surpassing not just bootleg recordings, but a lot of live recordings in general, which really sets it unique. The highlights are almost too many to count; a strong first half with exceptionally performed houses of the holy numbers ("Over the Hills" and "Dancing Days" being among my personal favourites) and a superb encore set including a generous helping of old songs rarely performed by Zeppelin this late in their career, including a beautiful rendition of "Thank You" (with a nicely melodic organ solo intro) and a head-bangingly exceptional version of "How Many More times" which segues smoothly into a fast-paced finale of "Communication Breakdown". The fact that this legendary performance comes at such a cheap price compared to other bootlegs is just the icing on the cake. This is one of those bootlegs that will please casual listeners and fans alike, it is beyond fantastic. Give it a listen if you haven't already :)
