I've got a copy with the mustard Reprise labels and the exact same Matrix/Runout as this release. Anyone know what year that could possibly be? Perhaps a 1969 repress from the same stamper as the original?
SuttcliffeRecords I've got a copy with the mustard Reprise labels and the exact same Matrix/Runout as this release. Anyone know what year that could possibly be? Perhaps a 1969 repress from the same stamper as the original? That would be from at least 1970.If your copy says "Warner Bros Records of Canada Ltd" with long and small label rim print like this one....https://www.discogs.com/Frank-Zappa-Hot-Rats/release/1549166 its definitely a 1970-71 repress. If it says Kinney Music of Canada that would date it to ca. mid 1971-mid 1972 --> https://www.discogs.com/Frank-Zappa-Hot-Rats/release/3989778 the Kinney release definitely first appeared in 1971.Your copy would definitely not say WEA, that would be from mid 72 or later.Regardless... it was the case for at least 2 years that the same metalwork and pressing plant (RCA Smith's Falls, responsible for the deep groove pressing ring) were used for this album continually.
