Arriving in 2018, Open Here goes further in incorporating poppy sounds while filling the arrangements with even more flutes, strings, and horns than have been heard on a Field Music album. The brothers still have the unerring knack for crafting smart and snappy pop songs that have more twists and turns than a mountain highway and sound clearer than a fresh spring running down the side of that mountain. Open Here is the sixth studio album by the English rock band Field Music. Released by Memphis Industries on 2 February 2018, the album combines elements of alternative rock and chamber pop, and includes a wider range of musical instruments than previous Field Music albums, predominantly featuring flutes, horns, and string instruments. The band attempted to create a unique instrumental combination for each song Field Music's David and Peter Brewis felt more confident about expanding the range of. Open Here' is a defiant and impassioned statement in which Field Music prove they have mastered the art of addressing the political and the personal simultaneously. Its fun, its loud, its dense. Full Review

A truly superb sounding release, ultra quiet transparent vinyl, deep impactful bass with well judged mids and highs. Artwork is nice too.
My first foray into Field Music. A band that's already been around for 11 years and have to bear the eponymous label "critically acclaimed" the sure fire kiss of death for so many bands. After listening to this album I can only say I'm sorry I've missed out for so long. Thoroughly enjoyable, imaginative and for me personally, being something of an old codger, they remind me of happier times and the Canterbury sound I loved so much. But there's originality and adventure here. Take a listen I don't think you'll be disappointed.
